Overview & How to translate

General
  • Please use the Localization Area in the Origin Forum for all translations. We collect and store all original versions. It's much easier to check and update them here then in all national boards.

  • Every user could translate now. Please read the following intructions carefully to keep the overview about all translations.

  • Public IRC Channel for all translators - feel free to join (native languages allowed):
    - IRC Server: irc.onlinegamesnet.net
    - Port: 6667
    - Channel: #ogame.origin-loca


General
  • All content is free
    - Everything written on the Origin Board is open to everyone worldwide! Results of this international cooperation are translated into all languages Gameforge provides and are available to the communities, so YOU are allowed to hand them down to your community.
    - Feel free to copy and paste it or link it at your national board! If you need help to post it correctly in your board, you should simply ask your national mods for help.



Choose a translation
  • You'll find all tasks in the Tasks and Tasks - Non English boards.
    - In every task thread you'll find at first the link to the original thread - your template.
    - Below there is the list with all Ogame communities and a link to already existing translations.
    - This task thread is the general overview about all translations.

  • Prefixes shows you for what the translations is used

    1. [UPDATE]
      - Update of an existing task. Translate the listed communities in every case.
      - Updates are important and translate them as soon as possible.

    2. [Origin]
      - This is for the Origin board only.
      - Translate them without asking, we need them in every case.

    3. [FAQ]
      - Separated FAQs, tutorials, Guides and HowTo's for your national board.
      - Translate them if you think this translation is needed or sensefull for your community. In doubt ask first your national team member.
      - Please add all original BBcodes to your translation.
      - Feel free to copy those translations to your locale board.

    4. [Tutorial] - ['Guide] - [Tactic] - [Info] - [Wiki]
      - These are parts of the Ogame Wiki / Tutorial.
      - See OGame Wiki - Overview for more information.
      - Translate them without asking, we need them in every case.
      - Please translate only the text without any BBcode etc.
      - We prefer a mixed posting with original and translated text. English part - translated part - next english part - next translated part. This is very easy to check.




Start a translation
  • General
    - The original text as your template includes on every time all updates. The added Changelog is only for better understanding of what's changed.
    - Create a new thread in the Unfinished board with a short text like "i am on it" or whatever you want.
    - Use a topic in this format : "[Prefix] Orignal english topic - Translated topic in your language" - The board forces you to use the prefix.

  • Version 1 (for user and staff)
    - Add in Translations - Started a new post only with the link to your new thread.
    - Reason : You can't edit the task thread.

  • Version 2 (for team member)
    - Add the link to your new thread in the task thread.
    - You can choose Version 1 if you want.

  • Important !
    - Please, follow this instruction strictly ! Only then all others know that you are on this translation.
    - You can translate now where you want and edit the thread whenever you want. Everyone has unlimited edit access on his own postings.



Finish a translation
  • Version 1 (for user and staff)
    - Add in Translations - Finished, please check a new post only with the link to your new thread.
    - An Origin Team Loca member checks your translation and moves it to the Localized board.
    - Reason : You can't move a thread.

  • Version 2 (for team member, tranlation need a check)
    - Move your translation to the Finished board and you'r done.
    - Or you can choose Version 1 if you want.

  • Version 3 (for team member who check translations)
    - Check the translation (spelling, sense etc)
    - Move the translation to the Localized board.
    - Remove the postings for this translation from Translations - Started and Translations - Finished, please check
    - Add in Translations - Overview & Checked a posting only with the link to inform Dimmetr as Supporter about the finished translation and update the first posting.
    - You can also edit the first post by yourself, but don't forget to add the posting with the link to inform the Supporter.

  • Important !

Update a translation
  • Version 1 (for user and staff)
    - Add a posting with the translation of the updated part to the task thread.

  • Version 2 (for team member, tranlation need a check)
    - Add a posting with the translation of the updated part to the task thread.

  • Version 3 (for team member who check translations)
    - Check the update and edit the finished translation with this update



Request a translation or update
  • Everyone can request a translation or update task !
    - Add a post in this thread Tasks - Ready for translation with the link to your finished FAQ or text and a little explanation, if needed.



Create a translation or update task
  • Only for Supporter or Representatives !

  • Create new translation task (English template) :
    - Open a new thread in the Tasks board with the topic - [Prefix] Original english topic using the template.
    - Add the link of this task in the orignal thread.

  • Create new translation task (Non English template) :
    - Open a new thread in the Tasks - Non English board with the topic - [Prefix] Original english topic using the template [language of template].
    - In the firts line place the language of template in brackets (like this "Original (german): ....")
    - Add the link of this task in the orignal thread.

  • Create new update task :
    - Open a new thread in the Tasks board with the topic - [UPDATE] Original english topic using the template.
    - Please remove ALL unneeded communities.
